The Memory Lab is a dedicated workstation that enables the Peters Township community to digitize and preserve their personal histories. The PTPL Memory Lab is a Do-It-Yourself model, where you will complete a one-time orientation session and then return to use the Memory Lab independently. Step-by-step written instructions are provided, but you get to control the process from start to finish. You will bring your materials and a storage device and we will provide the equipment and written instructions.
The Library's Memory Lab includes equipment and information for the conversion of analog formats to digital formats. Many of our personal memories are preserved in physical materials such as photographs or slides which are susceptible to damage or degradation over time. By digitizing these fragile formats with our professional-grade scanner, you can preserve your memories for future generations against damage or loss of the originals.
Location:
The Memory Lab is located on the second floor of the Peters Township Public Library, directly outside of the Local History Room.
Use:
To use the Memory Lab, you must complete an in-person orientation session before scheduling a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) session. You must be 13+ to complete the Memory Lab orientation and use the equipment. After completing your orientation, you can schedule DIY sessions for 2, 4, or 6 hours. When you return to use the Memory Lab independently, please stop by the Information Desk at the top of the stairs with your library card.
