Ways to Donate

General Donation

Your support of the library allows us to continue providing services and resources to the residents of Peters Township and beyond. Libraries support literacy and education, provide access to information, enhance the quality of life, and build community. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us continue providing the materials, services, and programs that enrich and enhance our community. A general monetary donation can also be made in memory or in honor of a loved one.

To see what types of projects your gift will support, take a look at our most recent annual mailer here.

How to donate by check:
Made payable to The Peters Township Library Foundation
Mailed to 616 East McMurray Road, McMurray, PA 15317

We encourage unrestricted giving, as it allows the Library and Foundation to work together to determine our most pressing needs. Decisions on the restricted nature of any gifts, and their acceptance or refusal, will be made by the Library Director and Foundation Board. If the donor does not request restrictions, all gifts will be considered unrestricted.

Book Memorials and Honorariums

Make a contribution in memory or honor of a loved one. Our Book Memorial and Honorarium program offers you an opportunity to donate funds for the purchase of a book to be added to the library's collection. Your gift book will bear a bookplate naming the donor and the person memorialized.

You may request a specific subject area or the library's staff will select a book in an area in need of new materials. The library cannot accommodate requests of specific titles, and all title selections are at the sole discretion of library staff.

For memorials and honorariums, letters of acknowledgment and appreciation will be sent to both the donor and the family of the person who is being honored.

For a Book Memorial and Honorarium, please print and complete a PTPL Memorial / Honor Book Form and return it to the library, or complete your request online.

IRA Charitable Rollover

Do you have an IRA account for your retirement savings? Did you know you can use it to give to your favorite charitable institutions, including The Peters Township Library Foundation? Your IRA can provide a tax-smart way to make an impact. If you qualify, the IRA Charitable Rollover is a great way to make a tax-free gift and may count toward your Required Minimum Distribution.

Your gift may transfer tax-free, lower your adjusted gross income, and be transferred directly from a traditional or Roth IRA to the Foundation.

If you would like to initiate a gift from your IRA to the Foundation, please consult with your financial advisor and IRA provider for more information regarding requirements and transfer procedures.

Bequests

Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Bequests are simple and can be made regardless of your income or the size of your estate. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.

If you already have a will, you can add The Peters Township Library Foundation as a beneficiary through a codicil, an amendment or addition to your existing will. Consult with your attorney or other advisors to choose the bequest that best fits your estate plan.

Beneficiary Designation

Making a gift to the Foundation via beneficiary designation is a simple and tax-efficient way to fund your legacy and avoid the time and expenses that result from having the assets subject to the probate process.

Naming The Peters Township Library Foundation as beneficiary of any of these types of accounts is easy. Contact a representative of the institution that manages your account or policy and request a “change of beneficiary form.”

- Retirement plans such as pension funds, 401ks, 403bs, and IRAs
- Life insurance policies
